Regarding application for approval to set upper limit on passenger fares on Rokko Cable Car

Mt. ROKKO CABLE CAR & TOURISM COMPANY (Headquarters: Nada-ku, Kobe City, President: Kimihiko Teranishi) filed an application for approval to set a passenger fare ceiling for Rokko Cable Car to the Director-General of the Kinki Transport Bureau on Friday, February 9, 2024.

For the time being, we will maintain the current standard passenger fare (600 yen one-way for adults) and frequency of service, and there will be no changes to the transportation service for our customers.

1. Reason for application

Rokko Cable Car Line, which our company operates as a Class 1 railway operator, began operation in 1932, but due to aging, the natural characteristics of Mt. The cable car is aging, and in 2022, the cable car was suspended twice due to cracks in its underframe.

In response to this situation, we transferred the assets related to Rokko Cable Car to our parent company HANSHIN ELECTRIC RAILWAY CO.,LTD., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hanshin Electric Railway"), through a company split, and Hanshin Electric Railway transferred funds for investment and maintenance management. In addition, we will utilize the knowledge of Hanshin Electric Railway's urban transportation business to improve the safety of Rokko Cable Car and improve facilities and equipment, in order to further work on the medium- to long-term development and revitalization of Mt. Rokko. Our company applied for permission for a Type 2 railway business on December 15, 2023, and was granted permission on January 26, 2024.

Due to the above circumstances, we have applied for approval to set a new upper limit on passenger fares for Rokko Cable Car in order to change our business form from a Class 1 railway operator to a Type 2 railway operator.
