Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden Vivid Rokko Blue Hydrangea named by Tomitaro Makino is in full bloom

Mt. ROKKO CABLE CAR & TOURISM COMPANY (Headquarters: Kobe City, President: Kimihiko Teranishi) operates the Rokko​ ​Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden on Mt. Rokko.

 

Hime-hydrangea, along with Hon-hydrangea, is one of the two major hydrangeas endemic to Japan, and was named by Dr. Tomitaro Makino in 1929. The red hydrangea of Mt. Rokko is called "Rokko Blue" for its bright blue color, and is popular as the city flower of Kobe City.
