Videokaffe
A collaborative network of ten artist members from various locations in North America and Europe. Through public art sculptures, exhibitions, residencies and an internet-based networking platform, Videocafé explores the intersection of handicraft and technology, promoting curiosity, hands-on and the joy of invention.
At Video Cafe, we use network technology and video capture equipment to connect studios, and we use a production method called "Screen Breach" to hold regular online meetings. Collaborating in this way, we examine themes such as the future of production, collective action and individual practice, the performative nature of work, and play as a means of exploration and discovery.
CAP (Non-Profit Organization Art and Planning Conference)
Started in 1994 with 11 artists including founder Tomoko Sugiyama. In 1995, with the help of donations from French artists to help with the earthquake disaster, we started a citizen participation program. Since then, many art events have been held using the former foreign settlement of Kobe. In 1999, the former Kobe Emigration Center was used for the “CAP HOUSE – 190 Days Artistic Experiment.” Became an NPO in 2002 and continued the CAP HOUSE project until 2007. In 2009, the building became a municipal center for overseas migration and cultural exchange, and CAP continues its activities as a designated administrator. See Saw Seeds, which started in 2016, has had more than 30 artists come and go between CAP and art groups in Germany, UAE, Finland, etc.
Videokaffe
Videokaffe is a collaborative network of 10 artist's members in various locations between North America and Europe. Videokaffe explores the intersection of handcraft and technology through public art sculpture, exhibitions, residencies, and internet-based network platforms.
We are promoting curiosity, the use of your own hands and the joy of invention.
Between exhibitions, Videokaffe's members use their working method Screen Breach, where they meet regularly online by connecting their studios via networking technology and video capture devices. Collaborating in this fashion the Videokaffe collective is examining themes such as the future of making, collective action versus individual practice, the performative nature of work and play as a means of exploration and discovery.
