束芋 / Tabaimo

1975年　兵庫県生まれ、長野県在住
1999年　京都造形芸術大学芸術学部情報デザインコース卒業

1999年京都造形芸術大学卒業制作としてアニメーションを用いたインスタレーション作品「にっぽんの台所」を発表、同作品でキリン・コンテンポラリー・アワード最優秀作品賞受賞。以後2001年第1回横浜トリエンナーレを皮切りに、2011年には第54回ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ日本館代表作家に選出される等、数々の国際展に出品。近年は舞台でのコラボレーションも展開。2016年はシアトル美術館にて「写し」をテーマに大規模個展を開催。2017年1月から2018年5月まで、朝日新聞朝刊連載小説「国宝」（吉田修一著）の挿絵を担当。
2019年銀座のポーラミュージアムアネックスでの個展では初の油絵を発表。
束芋が構成・演出を手がけたパフォーマンス作品・映像芝居「錆からでた実」のアメリカツアーが2020年2月〜3月に開催。
現在、フランスのサーカスパフォーマーとのパフォーマンス作品を制作中。

Tabaimo

1975 Born in Hyogo,Japan,Lives and works in Nagano,Japan

In 1999, as her graduation project from Kyoto University of Art and Design, she presented a vide installation work, “Japanese Kitchen”, which won the Kirin Contemporary Award for the best work. Since then she has participated in numerous international exhibitions, starting with the first Yokohama Triennale in 2001, and in 2011 she was selected to represent the Japanese Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale. In recent years, she has also developed collaborations on stage; in 2016, she held a large-scale solo exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum on the theme of “Utsushi”; from January 2017 to May 2018, she provided illustration for the novel “Kokuho” (written by Shuichi Yoshida), serialized in the morning edition of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.
In 2019 she will present her first oil paintings in a solo exhibition at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza.
The performance piece “Fruits borne out of rust”, directed by Tabaimo, toured the USA in February-March 2020.
She is currently working on a performance piece with a French circus performer.
